BARRINGTON, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–GE Healthcare is pleased to announce that GE Centricity® Advance version 10.1 is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as a Complete EHR on October 1, 2010 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable eligible provider certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

“We were highly confident that our rigor in certifying Centricity Advance against the preliminary ARRA rule over the summer would give GE Healthcare an edge when the final certification process was defined”

Centricity Advance is a fully integrated EMR, Practice Management, and Patient Self-Service Portal solution that is designed to meet the needs of smaller practices and primary care physicians. The solution is delivered in a web-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, which takes full advantage of cloud computing technology and makes Centricity Advance affordable, quick to deploy and easy to use. The ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that Complete EHRs meet all of the 2011/2012 criteria approved by HHS for eligible provider technology. The ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 EHR certification program, provided by CCHIT as an Office of the National Coordinator – Authorized Temporary Certification Body (ONC-ATCB), inspects EHR/EMR technology against criteria and standards adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). This certification qualifies EHRs as capable of supporting achievement of Meaningful Use for Stage 1 of the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

“We were highly confident that our rigor in certifying Centricity Advance against the preliminary ARRA rule over the summer would give GE Healthcare an edge when the final certification process was defined,” said Jim Corrigan, Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare IT. “We believe our rapid achievement of the meaningful use certification is evidence that this approach put our customers at the front of the curve, giving them the right tools to deliver the most effective healthcare while enabling their eligibility for the federal incentives. GE intends to continue certifying our eligible technologies and furthering our commitment to the customers that rely upon us to help enhance the patient care they offer. We are confident, by the end of 2010, our Centricity Practice Solution and Centricity EMR solutions will be certified, as well.”

2011/2012 certification conferred by CCHIT does not represent an endorsement of the certified EHR technology by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services nor does it guarantee the receipt of incentive payments.
