For those that have obtained these certifications, we have began a campaign to find work for those individuals in the marketplace. http://bit.ly/oaqopo

It is my understanding that the Federal stimulus dollars for EHR adoption is geared toward physicians, and predominately those in primary care. However, under Medicaid, midlevel providers could be eligible for payments if practicing in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) or Rural Health Clinics (RHCs). Unfortunately, I have not found any indication that physical therapists will be eligible for incentive payments.

Just to correct the statement: "However, only 8% of EMR vendors were CCHIT-certified in 2008. Does this mean that 92% of all the EMR systems on the market are garbage? "

There are many EMR vendors who still maintain "Active Certification" status that received CCHIT certifications in 2006 and 2007 that did not need to recertify under the 2008 criteria. Also, the application window for the currecnt CCHIT criteria (2008) is still open and quite possible there are dozens of vendors the certification process pipeline.
