We are very happy with our choice of eCW. In our market, with people abandoning Allscripts, Centricity, etc. we plan to stay put.

Hopefully, once enough data is in the database, we will be able to measure and improve our care quality.

Pros
Fantastic for MU. Very intuitive. Easily customizable with templates, order sets, favorites and aliases. Fat client works fairly well with speech recognition software. Good lab interface.
Cons
Data searches and alerts need improvement, especially drug allergies. Lab attributes need to be separated individually. May have a problem with scalability in larger practices.

Overall, eCW is a very good system...I would buy it again, even knowing the issues we had during implementation.
eCW should keep the Support Account Managers (SAM) permanently...you lose them one year after implementation. It gets frustrating to open a ticket, send emails, make calls and not get a response in a timely manner.
Regardless of which product you choose, know that there is no perfect PM/EMR...you have to decide which one best meets your needs, then swallow the good with the bad. eClinicalWorks best meets our needs and we are working through the issues.

Pros
eClinicalWorks is a very user friendly PM/EMR...that is important because if the users can't learn it quickly, they don't like it...if they don't like it, you have problems.
Cons
NEVER USE A RESELLER...smoke and mirrors in what you think you are getting and what you actually get.
eCW can be very slow to respond to issues/tickets. My advice is to ask for the owners' email addresses so you can send them you problems when the support staff don't respond with a week or so.
The reporting could be much better...most of it revolves around finance and very little around patient care/tracking/disease management.

Staff could care less that my system goes down all the time. They say it's a priority when the system goes down, but can take up to 1 hr to resolve. They have grown too big for their britches and cannot accomodate. The software updates have been a disaster. One update caused me to loose every picture of every patient since the practice started. I had to get the pictures taken again for 2000 patients. One upgrade I had my IT staff in the office and then they called that they forgot to do the upgrade. The software is mediocre at best. It doesn't work like any MS Word program, you have to enter every field individually. Printing a Rx is great, but it takes about 6 clicks to print a Rx. I open tickets about software glitches and no one ever gets back to me, and if they do they interupt me in the middle of patient's and don't have a clue that I can't talk. I could deal with all that if the system didn't constantly crash. They swore they were migrating my data to a new server and it just got worse. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. I'm stuck as there is no way I'm going to pay the thousands of dollars to migrate all my data. I wish I could turn back the clock.

It crashes constantly. I would say we are down at least 6 times a month. Sometimes for up to an hour.
