***Siemens Healthcare Receives 2011/2012 ONC-ATCB Certification for Complete EHRs and EHR Modules

 | 1 Comment on ***Siemens Healthcare Receives 2011/2012 ONC-ATCB Certification for Complete EHRs and EHR Modules

MALVERN, Pa., Nov. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Siemens Healthcare has achieved Complete EHR ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 Certification for Soarian® EHR version 2010, INVISION® EHR version 2010 and MedSeries4® EHR version 2010. These Complete EHRs are 2011/2012 compliant and have been certified by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable certification criteria for Hospitals adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

In addition to the Complete EHR certifications, Siemens Healthcare is one of the first vendors to have accomplished certifying a range of software “bundles'” by certifying six additional Modular EHRs. This approach covers the broadest customer base and allows customers to attest certification on the Siemens functionality that they have purchased, even if they have not purchased their entire solution from Siemens. This also allows customers to more easily support achievement of meaningful use through the mix of products, both Siemens and non-Siemens, to meet their specific needs.

A comprehensive listing of the Siemens applications tested for the Complete and Modular EHR certifications appears below and is also available at www.siemens.com/arra-hitech.

“Our intent is to position our entire customer base to pursue the HITECH incentives, as demonstrated by our comprehensive approach to certification,” said John Glaser, CEO of Siemens Health Services Business Unit. “Siemens is committed to helping all of our customers succeed in not only achieving meaningful use, but also in delivering exceptional care as supported by their Siemens solutions. Now that we’ve received certification, we continue to focus on providing tools and services that will help our customers cross the meaningful use finish line and address the emerging challenges facing the industry.”

As providers work to meet meaningful use measures, Siemens offers a customized roadmap to meaningful use and related application checklists. These tools are designed to help customers with the job of absorbing hundreds of pages of regulations and then translating them into an ARRA action plan. Beyond the ARRA Roadmap, regularly updated programs like the Siemens ARRA webcast series and the ARRA virtual conferences provide valuable information directly to customers’ desktops.

“The scope and complexity of ARRA-HITECH requirements make understanding how to satisfy meaningful use measures a real challenge,” said Denton Arledge, Vice President and Chief Information Officer for WakeMed Health & Hospitals, Raleigh, N.C. “It would be much more daunting without the depth of skill and resources available to us from Siemens Healthcare.”

These certifications do not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or guarantee the receipt of incentive payments. Specific certification information follows below.

MEDHOST Announces EDIS Version 4.2 is ONC-ATCB Certified by Drummond Group

 | 1 Comment on MEDHOST Announces EDIS Version 4.2 is ONC-ATCB Certified by Drummond Group

ADDISON, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–MEDHOST, provider of leading healthcare throughput and emergency department software, today announced that MEDHOST EDIS (Emergency Department Information System) version 4.2 has been tested and certified under Drummond Group’s Electronic Health Records ONC-ATCB program. Drummond Group Inc. is an ONC Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) that provides meaningful use certification for EHR systems and applications. When a complete EHR system or EHR module(s) is certified by Drummond Group, the eligible providers and hospitals can use this certified EHR technology as part of their criteria for qualifying for Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) incentive payments.

“We were glad to see the final criteria’s inclusion of ED order entry because with the volume of orders placed in the ED, our Customers will be able to meet the Stage 1 requirements more easily.”

“Our Customers continually experience improved patient care and safety, as well as streamlined operations when utilizing MEDHOST’s EDIS, and now that MEDHOST EDIS version 4.2 is ONC-ATCB certified they can further leverage the system’s many tools, such as order entry, to qualify for ARRA funds,” said Craig Herrod, president of MEDHOST. “We were glad to see the final criteria’s inclusion of ED order entry because with the volume of orders placed in the ED, our Customers will be able to meet the Stage 1 requirements more easily.”

In addition to Order Entry, Customers can leverage other features in MEDHOST’s easy-to-use EDIS to meet Stage 1 requirements. For instance, clinicians can easily document patient demographics and vital signs, including BMI and growth charts, all of which are included in the core set of Stage 1 requirements. And because the EDIS drives clinicians to specific patient care criteria based on the patient’s chief complaint, age and gender, hospitals can use it to satisfy the clinical decision support requirement. Also, the EDIS’s Continuity of Care Document (CCD), which enables hospitals to seamlessly integrate a patient’s ED information into their other systems, fulfills the electronic copy of health information requirement and makes patient information more accessible. These and other MEDHOST EDIS features not only improve patient care and safety, but the clinician-friendly design also helps hospitals promote clinician adoption and create a more complete EHR.

“Drummond Group has over ten years of software testing experience in several industries and we are pleased to bring that experience to the HIT marketplace. It is a privilege to carry out testing and certification in Electronic Health Records for HHS,” says Rik Drummond, CEO Drummond Group Inc.

“We truly are excited that our Customers can now leverage MEDHOST EDIS to qualify for ARRA funds, in addition to receiving the operational benefits that MEDHOST delivers,” said Herrod. “Helping our Customers qualify for these funds was a driving force behind MEDHOST seeking certification, and we look forward to assisting our Customers as they continue to harness the power of healthcare IT to improve patient care.”

MEDHOST currently serves more than 200 facilities, including large IDNs, rural and suburban hospitals, and several academic facilities across the U.S. MEDHOST easily integrates with leading hospital information systems, including MEDITECH, Cerner, Siemens and McKesson, Eclipsys, CPSI and HMS.

About MEDHOST, Inc.

MEDHOST is dedicated to advancing healthcare IT by developing user-friendly software solutions that improve productivity and throughput, as well as enhance the patient care experience. The MEDHOST product suite has been adopted by leading institutions throughout North America and has proven to dramatically improve house-wide patient flow, financial performance and patient satisfaction. MEDHOST’s OpCenter is an executive decision-support system that provides hospital leaders with real-time information, so they can proactively manage high-level issues that impact throughput, patient satisfaction and resource utilization. MEDHOST EDIS version 4.2 is certified under Drummond Group’s Electronic Health Records ONC-ATCB program and includes real time Patient Tracking, Nurse Charting, Physician Documentation, Order Entry and comprehensive reporting. MEDHOST’s ED Pass kiosk enables self check-in, automatically screens for high-risk conditions and feeds information into the MEDHOST EDIS to expand visibility to the waiting room and improve patient safety. Care Clock, MEDHOST’s latest technology, enables hospitals to utilize information from the EDIS and post current ED wait times on their website so patients can make more informed decisions about where to seek care for non-urgent problems. MEDHOST is headquartered in Addison, Texas.

“Montefiore Medical Center has been a long-term customer and partner of GE and a leader in the use of EHR Technology to support the delivery of meaningful care to our patients,” said Jack Wolf, Montefiore’s Chief Information Officer. “We are excited to hear about the certification of Centricity Enterprise. This is a critical step in our mutual objective to ensure that Montefiore is well positioned to demonstrate Meaningful Use in 2011.”

Centricity Enterprise version 6.6.3.2 (certification # 1028201043218) meets the following clinical quality measures: NQF0495, NQF0497, NQF0435, NQF0436, NQF0437, NQF0438, NQF0439, NQF0440, NQF0441, NQF0371, NQF0372, NQF0373, NQF0374, NQF0375, NQF0376. No additional software was used in testing.

The 2011/2012 certification conferred by Drummond Group does not represent an endorsement of the certified EHR technology by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services nor does it guarantee the receipt of incentive payments.
