Why EMR?

Aug 27, 2009. Spotlight.

There are several benefits to an EMR such as:
• Reduce expenses
• Increase revenue
• Reduce medical errors
• HIPAA Compliant
• Easily Accessible
• Reduce Transcription
• E-Prescribing
Although there are several benefits, physicians are still resisting an EMR.  Several physicians have stated that they do not want to change and they do not like technology.  This statement is ironic because physicians use state of the art equipment to diagnosis and provide treatment to patients.

I guess the reason may be because they believe EMRs will slow down their workflow.  Yes, there is a learning curve; however, once you learn how to use an EMR it will actually enhance your practice.  An EMR will also interface with all of your other medical equipment.

So begin comparing EMRs and see which product is the best EMR for you!

I have learned so much from this blog. This EMR blog has provided me with objective information about the industry. As a result, I have really gotten a better understanding of what an EMR is, and how it will benefit me as well as my future patients.

EMR Blog also has another website http://www.ehrtv.com that provides video blogs as well. I really like having the choice to read or watch about EMRs.

I didn’t see one of the most basic benefits listed: Just plain and simple take better care of patients. Doctors with an EHR take better care of patients!

It is an irony that no one wants change, and doctors are no different their reluctance to switch to EMRs is understandable, because in the back of their minds they have this nagging question, “what if we are unable to handle or learn new technology?”
